Vital signs cam app procedures Heart and Breathing rate using The iPad 2 cam – download now

I think it would be fair to say that I have mostly entertainment-based apps on my iphone and iPad. It is easy to forget that there are lots of beneficial apps out there that can help improve your lifestyle. I came across one such app today submitted by Philips to the iTunes app store called crucial signs Camera.

The app generally procedures your heart and breathing rate and is only available on the iPad 2 at the moment. The remarkable thing; it uses the iPad’s cam to obtain the results, no accessories required! due to a much smaller screen on the iphone and a lack of a cam on the original iPad, I can see why those devices were excluded.

Sure, you can spend a few bills and purchase a heart rate monitor online, but before you do, give this app a try. It might just save you some Christmas money. All you need is a moment of your time and a flat service. Oh, and 99¢ to purchase it. It is easy, quick and unobtrusive.

Upon opening the app, the cam will activate and start working automatically. Make sure your face is within the marked areas of the screen then stay still and quiet while the app gets a reading; it will only take a moment. According to Philips:

“The cam detects the small changes in the color of your face to measure your heart rate with beat-to beat accuracy. Likewise, the cam tracks the movements of your chest to measure your exact breathing rate.”

They claim they have been developing this particular cam technology for about three years and it shows. The app looks excellent and the measurements are pretty detailed. current users seem to like the app as well with a lot of giving it a rating of five stars in the app Store.

After the test is complete, you’ll know your heart and breathing rate, as well as if the results are within the low, average or high range. You can then share your results by means of Facebook, Twitter or E-mail. Heart rate statistics are based on data from the American Heart Association, while breathing rate statistics are based on data from Textbook of basic Nursing by Caroline Bunker. check out the video and download link below!
